people may experience mental illness at some point in their lives.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO),

In communities of color, systemic racism, oppression, and intergenerational trauma frequently make mental health problems worse. Mental health statistics for people of color show that compared to 35 percent of White people, 43 percent of Black people, and 47 percent of Hispanic people try to handle mental health concerns on their own instead of seeing a therapist.
Black and Brown people often avoid seeking medical and mental health care due to stigma, religious beliefs, a focus on survival, and a lack of trust in medical institutions.
They are less likely than White people to get treatment for mental health issues. Recognizing the challenges that people of color face in accessing appropriate mental health care is the first step to achieving equity in mental health care.

The Blaque Group aims to change the negative ideas about mental health and remove obstacles to getting culturally sensitive care.

Why Choose The Blaque Group?

Soulutions Counseling Services of CT created the Blaque Group to offer mental health care that acknowledges and deals with the specific needs and challenges Black and Brown communities face. The Blaque Group provides mental health services that integrate the cultural backgrounds, experiences, and needs of Black people. These services are meant to offer culturally relevant mental health resources that are accessible and focused on improving the mental and emotional well-being of vulnerable, historically marginalized, and undervalued individuals.
