About Us

Welcome to The Blaque Group, a pioneering virtual mental health clinic dedicated to serving African American males. At The Blaque Group, we recognize the critical need for culturally affirming and accessible mental health resources tailored to the unique experiences and challenges faced by our community.

Black and Brown people are repeatedly exposed to trauma, such as discrimination, racism, and implicit bias. Every day, they are bombarded with microaggressions, poverty, stigma, and suspicion. In response, Black and Brown people may feel a deep sense of rage, mistrust, or shame. They may also feel unsafe or uncomfortable in their bodies and have difficulty maintaining close relationships. Furthermore, the unique challenges that Black and Brown people face can feel incredibly isolating, mainly because there are limited spaces available for Brown and Black people to explore their shared experiences and express their grievances.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet profound: to empower African American males to prioritize their mental wellness, break down the stigma surrounding mental health, and foster a supportive community of healing and growth. We believe that by providing comprehensive and personalized support, we can help individuals thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Despite facing individual, collective, and intergenerational trauma caused by a long history of enslavement and exploitation in the United States, Black and Brown people continue to demonstrate strength and perseverance in the face of adversity. Unfortunately, this strength and perseverance often come with numerous and unspeakable sacrifices.
For Black communities especially, one of those sacrifices has been the quality of their mental health. While the importance of mental health is finally getting the attention it deserves, in the case of Black and Brown communities, the legacy of medical practice, prejudices and discrimination by the healthcare system, the stigma around mental health, and the lack of culturally relevant mental health care have contributed to so few Black people seeking the mental health treatments they so desperately deserve.

Our Approach

At The Blaque Group, we take a holistic approach to mental health, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Our curated curriculums combine evidence-based practices with culturally relevant insights, offering participants practical tools and strategies for enhancing their well-being.

Expert-Led Support

Led by a team of experienced instructors and mental health professionals, our virtual clinic sessions provide a safe and supportive space for participants to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Our instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each session, guiding participants on their journey towards self-discovery, growth, and resilience.

Community Connection

We understand the power of community in fostering healing and transformation. That's why we place a strong emphasis on building connections and fostering peer support within our virtual clinic. Through interactive discussions, group exercises, and breakout room sessions, participants have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share their experiences and aspirations.
